At Canutillo Middle School, the spaces will foster community and interaction, celebrate culture and innovation, and prioritize health and well-being to create a learning environment where everyone feels connected and inspired.
The design process consists of research, CISD standards, guiding principles, community feedback, and more—strategically gathered to craft a relevant, timeless, and personalized storytelling concept for the building’s planning and design.
The “Paseo” illustrates a strong connection between the community and campus, coming together to create a centralized space that celebrates interaction, engagement, inspiration, and socialization.
Reflecting its Upper Valley location and aeronautics/technology focus, the design features smooth, flowing geometries that emulate a riverbed’s fluidity. Solid forms anchor the design, while voids create connections that symbolize innovation and forward momentum. The undulating forms echo the surrounding landscape and foster creativity, collaboration, and a sense of limitless potential—aligning with the aspirations of technology-driven education.
