Rida Asfahani founded Root Architects in 2010. With more than twenty-five years of experience in architecture and construction across the United States, Mexico, Europe, and the Near East, Rida brings a broad, globally informed perspective to his work. His practice is grounded in historic preservation, sustainable design, and urban revitalization, with a focus on creating projects that are both contextually meaningful and forward-looking.

As Founding Principal, Rida is committed to integrating culture, design, and history to help usher El Paso into a new era of thoughtful growth and community building. Prior to establishing Root, he worked with nationally recognized design firms in Boston and San Antonio, experiences that shaped his multidisciplinary and collaborative approach.

Beyond traditional architectural services, Rida actively integrates design-build and real estate development into his professional practice. By aligning design vision with construction execution and long-term investment strategy, he demonstrates a deep commitment not only to the built environment, but to the economic vitality and sustained growth of the city and region.
